Compact ATS Resume Template

The Compact template tightens margins, leading, and type size so a full career fits on one page without feeling crowded. It uses Calibri with uppercase headings and no rules. It suits candidates with a long, relevant history who must stay to a single page, and downloads free as DOCX or PDF with no sign-up and no watermark.

  • Cut articles and connectors that add length without adding meaning to the claim.
  • Group similar tools together so the keyword footprint stays wide but stays brief.

Why it parses cleanly

  • Still a single column — density comes from spacing, never from columns or tables.
  • Half-inch margins stay within the ATS-safe range while reclaiming page space.
  • Calibri at ten point extracts cleanly and reads comfortably in print.
  • Uppercase headings use real heading styles, so sections are still tagged correctly.
  • Tight leading is set as paragraph spacing, not by cramming text into boxes.

FAQ

Are the half-inch margins in Compact still ATS-safe?

Yes. Half an inch is the bottom of the recommended 0.5-to-1-inch range, so it stays inside the safe zone while giving you more usable space. Going below half an inch is where parsers and printers start clipping content.

Will ten-point text in the Compact template be too small to read?

Ten-point Calibri is at the small end of the comfortable range but remains clearly legible in print and on screen. If a recruiter prints your resume, the tight leading keeps lines distinct without crowding the characters together.

Can the Compact template hold a two-page resume if I need it?

It can, but its whole purpose is fitting more onto one page. If your history genuinely needs two pages, a roomier design like Professional or Classic will read better across the page break than squeezing everything into Compact.
