Minimal ATS Resume Template

The Minimal template strips every ornament — no section rules, generous one-inch margins, plain left-aligned Arial — so your words carry the page. It suits senior individual contributors and anyone who wants a quiet, confident document. It stays single-column and ATS-safe, and downloads free as DOCX or PDF with no sign-up and no watermark.

Why it parses cleanly

  • No rules, lines, or dividers, so there is nothing for a parser to misread as a table border.
  • Left-aligned Arial, a standard sans-serif that extracts identically on every system.
  • Real heading styles still mark each section even without visible underlines.
  • Wide one-inch margins keep text well inside the printable area on US Letter.
  • Pure single-column body text — no sidebars, columns, or graphics anywhere.

FAQ

Does removing section rules make Minimal harder for an ATS to read?

No. Parsers locate sections from the heading styles, not from visible lines, so removing rules changes only the look. The whitespace actually helps a human skim faster while the underlying structure stays fully machine-readable.

Is the Minimal template too plain for an entry-level resume?

It can feel sparse when you have little to show, because there is no structure to lean on. New graduates and career changers usually do better with the Entry-Level or Classic template, which gives thinner content more visible scaffolding.

Why does Minimal use one-inch margins instead of narrower ones?

The wide margins are the design — they create the calm, spacious feel and keep text safely inside the printable area. If you need to fit more on a single page, the Compact template tightens the margins for that purpose.
